Graphic Designer

STATUS: Full-Time
LOCATION: Metro/Corporate

SUMMARY 
Exercising discretion and independent judgment, develops, creates and maintains the look and layout of all YMCA of Lincoln Association print and social media marketing materials. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility for the concept and development of all Association marketing design needs. Exhibits strong knowledge of the Y-USA brand guidelines, cause criteria, design expertise and high-level conceptual creativity.  
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment to produce content and design that promotes the Association and increases brand awareness through the use of advanced graphic design techniques.
  • Prior to implementation in the branches, works with staff to approve branch specific direct mail and t-shirt designs outside of provided templates.  Works with branch staff to encourage and implement the use of the Y look and voice.
  • Continually monitors graphic integrity, consistency and style of marketing pieces. Assists with regular internal audits and takes appropriate action to correct improper use of the YMCA logo and branding standards.
  • Designs social media strategies and administers all Association social media accounts to ensure up-to-date content and best-practices are being followed. 
  • Without direct oversight and using independent discretion and judgment, determines appropriate course of action or response when dealing with member/program participant communication on social media.
  • Monitors and provides training and guidance for branch-specific Facebook pages.
  • Uses creativity and initiative to look for and propose new solutions to achieve Association marketing goals. 
  • Carries out supervisory and leadership responsibilities to effectively manage and mentor interns.
  • Maintains flexibility as workloads change throughout the department and assumes responsibilities to support the ongoing success of the YMCA as a whole.

  • Ability to work with all levels of YMCA staff, volunteers and vendors and establish effective working relationships.
  • Ability to manage and meet tight deadlines, achieving appropriate turnaround times.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the YMCA and its purpose, mission and values. Demonstrates this understanding through behavior and actions that support the purpose, mission and values.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred. 
Must have advanced skills in Photoshop and InDesign, as well as intermediate skills in Illustrator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 
Ability to perform sedentary physical activity that may include lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. and fingering (typing). 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
